El Hadji DIOP is the current focal point of Senegal for the development and transfer of technologies at the technology mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). As a member of several professional associations, he is very active in the popularization of renewable energies and energy efficiency in Africa. Graduated in telecommunications from Munich (Fachhochschule München), in 1991, El Hadji DIOP received his MBA in 2001 on international marketing at the European School of Business in Reutlingen, Germany.
In 1993, he started developing renewable energy application solutions after receiving his certificate as a designer of solar systems, off-grid and connected to the grid, from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Munich, Germany. In 2010, El Hadji DIOP designed and built the first positive energy house in Senegal, which through the first smart, bidirectional meter in the country injects excess solar energy into the Senelec network, as well as other applications in the agricultural, residential, telecommunications and rural electrification sectors.
El Hadji DIOP has worked for years through his consulting firm, TERRA Technologies, as an expert consultant for international organizations such as the International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies (IFCR), UNHCR, IFDD/OIF, UNDP and GIZ. In this context, he gave courses for three years, until 2018, at the African School of Architecture and Urban Planning (EAMAU) in Lomé, Togo, on the integration of renewable energies in the built environment, energy efficiency and the digitalization of electrical systems (SMART – GRID). Since 2015, in Paris, he has participated in the climate conferences, CoP and SB, as a negotiator for Senegal and an expert for technology transfer, mitigation, artificial intelligence and just transition.
