Deepak Maheshwari

Deepak Maheshwari has a keen interest in the interplay of public policy with technological innovation and socio-economic development. He has been closely engaged in the evolution of policies and regulations with respect to India’s digital ecosystem for almost three decades. 

Currently, he is Senior Policy Advisor at Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP), Advisor at the Indicus Centre for Financial Inclusion (ICFI) and a Member, Public Affairs Advisory Board of Palo Alto Networks.He has also been affiliated with ICRIER, CUTS, Centre For The Digital Future and PAFI. An oft-invited speaker, his views have been curated, published and cited widely.

Besides serving on government committees on AI as well as on Accessibility, he has volunteered as – Global Chair of IEEE Internet Initiative, Secretary of ISP Association of India (ISPAI) and Advisory Board Member of IIM Ahmedabad-Idea Telecom Centre of Excellence. Earlier, he led the public policy function in Microsoft, Mastercard, Symantec, and Sify – covering India, South Asia, ASEAN and China regions.A strong believer in public private partnerships, he co-founded the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and the ITU-APT Foundation of India. He is a law graduate even as he had earlier graduated in engineering from IIT.
