A Full Professor with the Industrial Engineering Department at University of Chile. During his academic life, he has been an adviser for more than 120 reports and theses (master and doctorate), has written more than 150 scientific publications and book chapters. He has been post-doctoral fellow at the Computing Laboratory, University of Oxford, UK, visiting professor at the Center for Collaborative Research, University of Tokyo, Japan and the VSB Ostrava Technical University, Czech Republic, as well as being a guest lecturer in more than 10 countries. In 2009, he was the General Chair of the International Knowledge Engineering System (KES) Conference and in 2018 was General Chair of the International Conference on Web Intelligence held in Santiago de Chile. His research lines are health engineering, data science, web mining and artificial intelligence.
