Dr. Webster Gumindoga

Dr. Webster Gumindoga is a leading hydrologist and researcher from Zimbabwe with over 15 years of experience in satellite-based water resources modelling, climate impact assessment, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in environmental systems. He holds a PhD in Applied Hydrology and Water Resources Modelling from the University of Twente (ITC), The Netherlands, and currently serves as the Research, Innovation and Industrialization Manager in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of Zimbabwe.

His research expertise lies at the intersection of spatial hydrology, climate change, Earth observation, and AI for sustainable development, with a focus on data-scarce and climate-vulnerable African contexts. Dr. Gumindoga has introduced cutting-edge geoinformation tools into undergraduate civil engineering education and actively supervises postgraduate work in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). He is passionate about using AI to democratize environmental data, support inclusive water policy, and reduce rural-urban information divides in Sub-Saharan Africa.
