Jan Oster

Jan Oster studied law at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and at the University of California Berkeley. He obtained his doctorate in law in 2009. From 2009 to 2013, he was the DAAD Lecturer in Law at King’s College London and from 2014 to 2022 Assistant Professor of EU Law and Institutions at Leiden University. Since 2022, he holds the Chair of Civil Law, Business Law, Media Law, Data and Digitalization Law at the University of Osnabrück. Oster’s research focuses on legal issues of digitalization, in particular the law of artificial intelligence, data and information law, and media law
