Prof. Syun Tutiya is a distinguished academic specializing in higher education quality assurance and evaluation. He has made significant contributions to the field through his role at the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation, where he has served as a professor since April 2011. During his tenure, Prof. Tutiya has focused on research in higher education quality assurance and evaluation and has actively engaged in training Vietnamese colleagues on these crucial aspects.
Before his current position, Prof. Tutiya had an extensive career at Chiba University, spanning from April 1982 to March 2011. He began as an Associate Professor, teaching subjects such as the philosophy of language, philosophy of science, and logic. His academic role was complemented by his work as a visiting researcher and research associate at the Center for the Study of Language and Information (CSLI) at Stanford University, where he spent two and a half years.
Prof. Tutiya’s contributions to Chiba University extended beyond teaching. From January 1994 to March 2011, he served as the Director of the Information Processing Center and University Librarian. In these roles, he was instrumental in connecting the campus to the Internet and negotiating consortial agreements with major publishers. His involvement also included serving on various committees focused on library services, information infrastructure, and information technology.
